Niloo is a voracious learner with a knack for explaining complex concepts in simple terms. When she’s not exploring the latest advancements in Blockchain technology, she helps Toronto-based charities use technology to streamline their operations. Ananya Chadha Ananya Chadha is a 16 year-old blockchain developer from Toronto focused on the intersection between blockchain and other exponential technologies. She has developed two cryptocurrencies and crowdsale (ICO) smart contracts with the ERC20 tokens framework set by Ethereum. At our THIW Ideathon the winning team will get a swag bag, and the opportunity to share their idea with the Hacking Health Canada network.  About Dr. Onil Bhattacharyya Dr.Onil Bhattacharyya is the Frigon Blau Chair in Family Medicine Research at Women’s College Hospital. He is a practicing clinician and an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. He has been a Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy at the Commonwealth Fund in New York City and a Takemi Fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on the application of methods from the software and startup sector to health service design. Dr. Bhattacharyya received his medical degree from the University of Montreal, and PhD in health services research from the University of Toronto. About Lisa Machado Lisa Machado is a former financial journalist who, after being diagnosed with a rare leukemia in 2008, now writes and speaks about the patient experience and the challenges of living with chronic illness. She is the head of PatientSpeak, a communications consultancy that matches patients and caregivers with organizations that want to engage them. She is also the founder of the Canadian CML Network, and the author of the award-winning "Living Well with CML: What you need to know to live your best life with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia." Lisa has been interviewed by CTV News, Rogers Media and the CBC and featured in a number of newspaper articles. She has written for The Caregiver Network and Cure Today magazine. Lisa also writes a regular column at CML-IQ.com and you can find her blog at cmlnetwork.ca.

              Food for Thought Policy Hackathon

              Join us for the Policy innovation initiative (School of Public Policy & Governance)'s annual hackathon. Our "Food for Thought" hackathon will explore and pose solutions to some of the most difficult food security issues in an urban setting. It will be an opportunity to apply design thinking, create impact creatively, learn, and connect with multi-disciplinary experts. The hackathon will focus on three key issues: Institutional Food Procurement: How might we encourage healthy and sustainable food procurement in public institutions? Food Literacy: How might we strengthen food literacy for at-risk populations in urban centers? Home-based Food Businesses: How might we support urban home-based food businesses? Participants will tackle the challenges in teams composed of diverse skills and experiences, and will be joined by our Keynote Speaker Lori Stahlbrand (Coordinator, Toronto Food Policy Council) and Challenge Leaders, Adeline Cohen (OpenLab, Urban Farm Project, UHN), Reg Noble (Centre for Studies in Food Security, Ryerson University), and Cassandra Gentile (Director, Food Innovation Hub) to provide guidance during the hackathon. The hackathon is open to all graduate students, including public policy, urban planning, public health, as well as public servants and those passionate to make changes through policy.
