Metro North Hospital IT Inaugural Hackathon

Metro North IT is inviting employees from Metro North Hospital and Health Service to spend a day at our Inaugural Hackathon 2016, themed “Let’s make health technology work better for us.”  The Hackathon is designed for collaboration with both our application developers and healthcare professionals with a view to improve the use of technology in local systems across Metro North Hospital and Health Service.

Teams will have the opportunity to choose from one of the four pre-selected topics rapidly deliver solutions on the day:

TOPIC A - Location Grade Wireless Utilisation TEAM LEADER – Tim Thompson

GOAL - Utilise the location grade infrastructure to give a user’s location into Mobile Clinical App (MCA); alert if user is in proximity to a particular patient and open the record for that patient.  To be achieved on the day and defined by the team.

TOPIC B - Patient Survey  TEAM LEADER - Mary Lazo

GOAL - Usable, Mobile, Internal or Externally delivered Survey including distribution of results in real time to relevant department heads. To be achieved on the day and defined by the team.

TOPIC C -  The Inpatient Story TEAM  LEADER - Hayden Wiltshire

GOAL - A single view of an inpatient’s activity /story since arriving at the hospital. Maybe something like the viewer on steroids. To be achieved on the day and defined by the team.

TOPIC D -  Clinical Wound Photography App  TEAM LEADER - Steve Perske

GOAL – Enable clinicians to easily and securely share and obtain photographs and feedback from other clinicians on a patient’s wound/s. To be achieved on the day and defined by the team.

Event Team - Involved in Event but not developing topic   TEAM LEADER - Ian Missenden

GOAL - To help deliver a successful event that is Fun, Informative and Productive.



ATTENDEES

This Hackathon is a free event for registered Metro North Hospital and Health Service employees. Attendees are welcome to participate in development; view scheduled local system demonstrations; or to observe.  

RULES

All projects presented at the Hackathon will remain the intellectual property of Qld Health.  Applications Development will provide subject matter and technical support on the day. Qld Health Staff ID Badges are mandatory for registration and are to be worn on the day.  More details will be provided to registrants closer to the event.
