Arab Women in Computing (ArabWIC) Lebanon chapter and IEEE Women in Engineering (IEEE WIE) Lebanon section are very proud to join their efforts for organizing She Develops, the first women only hackathon in Lebanon. Participants should register on link below: http://goo.gl/forms/yYQFXjQnNQ She Develops is a one day long Hackathon targeting female computer science, computer engineering and MIS students as well as young female developers with experience with mobile apps design and development. She Develops is sponsored by the Computer Science (CS) and the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) departments at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Google MENA, IEEE Lebanon section and FOO solutions, a pioneer in mobile apps development in Lebanon. Participants are expected to organize themselves in groups of 3 persons with complementary competencies. Different groups will compete against each other for building the basic version of an Android mobile app that contributes to solving a social problem of their choice. In preparation for the Hackathon, interested participants will be given the opportunity to attend, for free, a business ideation workshop and two coding workshops, delivered by FOO experts, respectively held on the 13th (5 pm to 7 pm), 16th (6 pm to 8 pm) and 18th of November (6 pm to 8 pm) at AUB. Attending the business ideation workshop is mandatory for all Hackathon participants as it will allow them to organize themselves into groups and to start brainstorming about the apps that they want to develop. Coding workshops are optional and aim at allowing participants to develop or enhance their Java programming skills. Technical support and guidance will be provided to participants during the Hackathon. Different apps will be evaluated at the end of the Hackathon by a professional jury including entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, experienced software developers and academic faculty. Exciting awards are awaiting the winning team(s) including summer internships at FOO solutions!
