Click to watch video: This years theme is to build the next generation of connected apps, hardware and websites that bring people, places, and things together using the internet. We will have technical mentors available to help you code a web app or website, and will also have hardware kits (Texas Instruments based micro-controllers, wearables, robots) and 3D printers available for makers (if you want to build a physical working prototype). Plenty of resources available to use and build your business idea! Participants get all drinks, snacks, lunches and dinners provided. Plus a StartupWeekend t-shirt and more! Startups from Startup Weekend Hamilton also have the opportunity to apply to compete in the Global Startup Battle, a global competition with thousands of dollars worth of prizes to be awarded. Don't have anyone to join you at the event... don't worry! Most attendees come solo, it's part of the fun. You will be joining a group of people at the event... no one works on a project on their own. So you'll be teamed up with other individuals who have come to work on something amazing and don't know anyone else either! It is the ultimate way to meet new people and make new friendships over an intense weekend of building and creating! What to expect: Click here to view this year's schedule On the first night, anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea (optional) and receive feedback from everyone. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation over the Saturday and Sunday. We also have mentors on Saturday to help provide coaching and advice to each of the teams. Then on Sunday all of the teams present in front of a judging panel of local entrepreneurial leaders, for a chance to win prizes and the title of winner of Startup Weekend Hamilton 6! After the conference is over, roughly 80% of attendees plan on continuing to work on their startup after the weekend. Note: You do not need to pitch an idea to participate! Idea pitching is completely optional. You can listen to everyone else's idea pitches on the Friday evening, and you get to vote on your favourites, and then join any group you'd like to help out and support with your skills and talents.
