WHAT IS HACKING FOR HUMANITY? Our Hacking for Humanity competition is a social innovation code-a-thon that tackles local challenges at a global scale. Developers, designers, scientists, students, product developers, entrepreneurs, educators and NGO’s will gather to collaborate on a project for the Arizona Sustainability Alliance and tackle our recycling crisis in AZ. This event gives participants the chance to flex their skills, work with fellow hackers, and learn something new. Mentors are present to guide attendees on the project chosen for the event. Developers, designers, business backgrounds (HR, Marketing, Sales, Consulting, etc), scientists, students, product developers, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, educators and the like Does someone need technical skills? NO. Hackathons are a chance for everyone with any background to contribute. You don't need any technical skills to contribute.  Will there be help? Yes, Mentors will be present to guide the attendees all through out.  Can companies send delegations? Yes! have them register with their company emails Who forms the teams? The Girls in Tech Phoenix team will form the teams to ensure it's multidisciplinary.     Join Girls in Tech PHX + City of Goodyear for a 3-day hackathon event for high school students and adults! Come together to pitch an idea and launch a business, all in one weekend! It's a great opportunity to test startup ideas, meet potential co-founders, build your community in Goodyear and learn from mentors in tech. APPROXIMATE EVENT TIMES Thursday, May 2nd from 4pm-9pm Friday, May 3rd from 4pm-9pm Saturday, May 4th from 9am-7pm Registration covers all meals, snacks, beverages and swag. Please note that registered attendees will be asked to commit to full participation on all 3 days.  Participants will be given the opportunity to pitch a new idea on opening night ceremonies Thursday, May 2nd. The best ideas will be selected from the attendees and teams formed that same evening. Be ready to bring your own ideas or to join a team! Teams will "hack" in the evening Friday, May 3rd and in the morning Saturday, May 4th. In the afternoon on May 4th, the final pitches will be conducted before a panel of judges and the winners will be selected. Exciting prizes await the winning teams!
