Refugee Hackathon Austria

This hackathon invited you to develop technological solutions for the care of refugees and integration. Get involved at the interface of technology and business for social engagement and humanitarian aid. Challenge yourself with technology for asylum seekers to develop a use-creating application together with Microsoft, the Red Cross, the City of Vienna, the Foreign Ministry, the mobility.builders developer community, WhatAVenture, Tieto, Netidee, pot travel and the developers of the Welcome app from Germany! This event is inviting web and mobile developers, designers and project managers who will be supported by mentors and asylum seekers to come together to brainstorm, develop, prototype and validate. You will be challenged to create either a mobile App, website and/or other technical services to solve problems for communicating with Austrians, overcoming language barriers, the orientation, both spatially and in the official processes, to the exchange of cultural aspects. Best projects will get the chance to win a User Experience Workshop of Tieto, a Device of Microsoft, Startup Packages of WhatAVenture, and Slot for the project presentation at the next Mobile Developer after-work event of mobility.builders.
Chronic Pain Australia Hackathon

The ThinkCamp is a mixed event focusing on the Open Space, BarCamp and Hackathon formats that provide an open and creative environment for developing new ideas and projects. ThinkCamps invite participants from a diverse range of disciplines, skill-sets and experiences to collaborate together on addressing problems, rising to challenges, and taking advantage of new opportunities. At the ECSA ThinkCamp these will take the form of Citizen Science Challenges. Attendees will be presented with a number of Challenges to explore and invited to join the discussion at the ‘working group’ table around that issue. Feel free to move amongst the Challenges based on what you can learn, contribute, or simply enjoy being part of. There will be a Show & Tell at the end of the day, for each Challenge ‘owner’ and the teams that emerged to present back to all Conference attendees what took shape during the ThinkCamp. Support will be offered by the ThinkCamp organisers to take any of those ideas forward beyond the event itself.

Solve a data challenge for charity, win great prizes and do your contribution for a better world! This is a unique event where you can use data to solve challenges identified by the charities and a great chance to get mentored by senior leaders in Google, Barclays, University of Cambridge etc. You will be set four challenges to choose from, each related to a charity: Multiple Sclerosis Society, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Impetus-PEF, and World Migration Data by United Nations. You can take as many challenges you like and will be provided with data sets to do so. Each day there will be an optional hour of mentoring with charity leaders and industry experts to support you in building your solutions and you’ll have an option to work from sites at Barclays (Canary Wharf) and Digital Catapult NETV in Sunderland.
