List of hackathons about non-profit in 2018

Our event is a two-day function, based in Wellington CBD. We are bringing together problems from both public and private entities that can be solved by teams, with prizes for the best solutions in select categories. The event will include talks from industry experts, mentorship and workshopping opportunities, and mini-events to help interact and exchange with other teams. Hackers from across North America! You're invited to participate in Hack the 6ix -- Toronto’s largest summer hackathon. Come with a team of up to four techies, or join a team at the event. You'll get to collaborate and compete during 36 hours of design and coding. Conceive, design, and prototype your hardware or software project from scratch! Pitch your solution to a panel of judges and showcase your hacker chops in front of some of the top companies in North America.

A really cool BärnHäckt-weekend in an inspiring atmosphere awaits you! Bring in your talent by engaging in a creative team with an exciting challenge, working out a clever solutions, building a prototype and presenting the result at the end to the community. BärnHäckt winners will get valuable prizes!

Are you involved in a professional association and have ideas on how technology can be leveraged for improvement? If so, then you're invited to participate in the Component Hackathon: Retrofit for the 21st Century. This event is sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). At the hackathon, you'll get to collaborate with other association pros and experiment with technology and new models that can help improve the effectiveness of association chapters.

Hackers in the UK! HackerEarth invites you to participate in the Innovation for Sustainable Development hackathon. You'll be asked to create an innovative solution that addresses one of three challenge areas: Accessible, affordable and sustainable power for everyone, Efficient water systems or practices that drive sustainable water usage, or Solutions to a critical environmental problem.

Hackers in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area! If you're interested in participating in IBM’s Call for Code hackathon for natural disaster preparedness, then take some time to attend the Introduction to Chatbots meetup. You'll get to learn how to build a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence and IBM Watson services. You'll also learn about the building blocks needed to understand natural language user input and how to process requests via a Slackbot. This will prepare you to solve the pressing global disaster preparedness problems posed in the IBM hackathon.

College student techies in the New York Area! You're invited to come and showcase your technical skills and creativity to build and deploy state-of-the-art software/hardware solutions. Come network and collaborate with your peers and compete for recognition and prizes.

Socially aware hackers and community members in the San Francisco Bay Area! Code for San Francisco invites you to participate in the National Day of Civic Hacking. You'll get to collaborate with like-minded individuals to design and prototype imaginative solutions to pressing problems facing the city and the Bay Area! You can bring your own new project, as long as it addresses the public good, and/or could benefit local government, non-profits, community associations, etc.

Hackers in the Seattle area! If you're interested in the use of technology for the good of the community, then you're invited to attend the workshop -- How To Engage Civic Tech Volunteers to Advance Your Organization's Mission. At this event, you'll learn how to convey your tech needs to skilled volunteers to support the work of your organization. There will be a follow-up hackathon for civic tech volunteers on September 22nd.
