Calling UX designers, developers, product owners, marketers, programmers, sales execs, HR professionals, and others who support the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQIA+) community! You're invited to participate in the Employee Diversity Hackathon – Brighton Pride 2020. The theme of the event is how General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) data is processed for transgender employees as they undergo gender transition. You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary team of 4-6 people. Your team will design and prototype a high-impact GDPR solution to one of three set challenges related to storing data with regards to LGBTQIA+, with particular emphasis on trans persons record keeping. Collaborate and compete for your share of a £4,000 cash prize pool. The winning project will have an original idea, that innovative, customer-focused, and well-executed.

The third M+ Hackathon, ‘City of Objects’, will take place online on 1–15 August 2020. We invite students, designers, artists, technologists, and cultural enthusiasts to embark on a journey that explores the concept of objects through different lenses—everyday life, personal and cultural identities, and virtuality. The format of this hackathon will be in the style of a two-week online design thinking workshop where facilitators Chun-wo Pat and Christian Marc Schmidt will invite participants to create projects that examine, interpret, and activate objects in a visual culture context. Participants are encouraged to make use of design practices to engage with a wide range of materials, from photographs to data sets. The M+ Collections open data set will also be made available through the M+open accessprogramme—over 6,200 records can be explored on the M+Collections Beta platform, via theM+ GitHub repositoryand thepublic M+ API.
